Looking for alpinism, climbing or mountaniering
in Serbia and in Montenegro?
Today, Student Speleologic and Alpinistic Club is a classic caving club. The "Alpinistic" in its name comes from the times when there was an active alpinistic branch. If you are interested strictly in alpinism, climbing or mountaniering, here is the list of some (but not all) groups and organizations.
Alpinism
Almost all the alpinists in Belgrade are grouped in AOB
(Alpinisticki odsek Planinarskog saveza Beograda, which stands for
"Alpinistic branch of the Mountaniering association of
Belgrade"). AOB has a web site (in Serbian) at http://www.aob.org.rs ,
and their e-mail is aob@aob.org.rs.
Of course, Belgrade alpinists are not the only ones here. There
are groups of alpinists in Nis, Subotica, and other Serbian towns, and of
course in Montenegro. Alpinists from Vojvodina summited Everest in 2005.
The most famous Montentegrin alpinists are the
ones from the "Javorak"
club in Niksic, because of their 1996 Mt. Everest expedition. They
are also in charge of the Mountain Rescue in Montenegro.
Climbing
There are several free-climbing clubs in Serbia and in Belgrade.
Some of them are: Climbing
Club "ACE" , Gekon
and Vertikal
(sites in Serbian). There is also a comprehensive overview
of Yugoslav climbing
,
but only in Serbian. The Sportclimbing Federation of Serbia
has its site in English and Serbian.
Mountaniering
The Mountaniering Association of
Belgrade is on the Web at http://www.psb.org.rs (in Serbian), and their Mountain Rescue is at http://www.gss.org.rs
(Serbian and English). Here is the link to the Montenegro
Mountaineering association
